Everett B. Carter, 82, Chanute, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Earlton to Ray and Bessie Kepley Carter. He married Ila Mae Booe on July 30, 1950, in Humboldt. She survives.

He was a farmer.

Other survivors include his children and their spouses, Marsha and Billy Sutton, Haysville, Diana Schaffer, Haysville, Kelly Carter, Nolanville, Texas, and Greg and Toni Carter, Chanute; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Chuck Lindsey, Cheyenne, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Troy Carter, and a sister, Lila Follmer.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church. Cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
