Edith Bogert Jones, 96, Chanute, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center following a brief bout of pneumonia.
Edith was born on Nov. 29, 1912 in Chambers, Neb., the daughter of the late John and Lottie Hawley Bogert.
She married Walter Jones in 1942. He preceded her in death. She completed nurses training in Topeka and worked in health care for many years including a Chanute nursing home.
She was a church member most of her life and became affiliated with the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute in 1998.
Edith is survived by a sister-in-law, Maurine D. Bogert, Chambersburg, Pa.; two nephews, James M. Bogert and his wife, Gladys, Quinter, and John C. Bogert and his wife, Cynthia, Waxhaw, N.C.; a niece, Mary Alice Bogert, Chambersburg, Pa.; six great-nieces and nephews, Megan, Cody, Jesse, and Bradley Bogert, Quinter, and Matthew and Melissa Bogert , Waxhaw, N.C.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Bogert who died in childhood, and her two brothers, John Albert Bogert of Chambers, Neb.,.and Harvey James Bogert, Quinter.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
