Margaret L. Tredway, 94, Chanute, and former resident of Parsons and Erie, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Heritage Health Care in Chanute.

She was born August 24, 1915, in rural Erie, to Robert H. and Elsie Moffitt Coover. She attended area schools and graduated from the Erie High School. On May 20, 1934 she and Roy T. Tredway were married in Kimball. They lived on a farm near Kimball until 1941, when they moved to the rural Parsons area. In 1971 they moved to Erie. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1988. She continued living in Erie until late in 2005, when she moved to Chanute.

Tredway was a member of the Erie Federated Church. She especially enjoyed embroidering, gardening and reading.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Stover and husband, Pat, Parsons, Rita Davis and husband, Merle, Chanute; a daughter-in-law, Lois Tredway, Parsons; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Coover, Erie; a sister, Mary Smith, Chanute. She was also preceded in death by three sons, infant James Clayton Tredway in 1937, Dean Tredway, in 1973 and Roy Tredway, Jr., in 1983, a great-grandson, a brother, Paul Coover, and a sister, Edna Redfield.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, at the Erie Federated Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, northeast of Erie. Friends may call at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie after 1 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
