Lucile Lema Edwards, 95, longtime resident of Fredonia, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Joplin, Mo. She was born April 18, 1913 in Batesville, Ark. She moved to the Wilson County area when she was 18. She worked for a few years at the Kansas Ammunition Plant and owned and operated an antique store in Fredonia.
On August 21, 1931 she married Fred Alton Edwards. He died March 21, 1992.
She was a longtime member of the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia.
Survivors include six children, Donald Edwards, Alba, Mo., Marie Beckham, Wichita, Bill Edwards, Goodman, Mo., Helen Bruenn, Joplin, Ron Edwards, Joplin, Dennis Edwards, Gentry, Ark.; 29 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Bible Baptist Church, Fredonia. Burial will be in Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home 4 to 6 p.m. today. Memorials to the church may be sent to the funeral home, P.O. Box 168, Fredonia, Ks 66736.
