Aurora I. Gutierrez, 85, Humboldt, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Aurora was born in Chanute on July 31, 1923 the daughter of Martin and Maria Navarette Ramirez.

She was united in marriage to Felipe Gutierrez on Oct. 31, 1949 in Neodesha. He preceded her in death.

She worked as a medical aide in nursing homes.

Aurora is survived by a daughter, Delfina Munoz, Chanute; three sons, Emeterio Gutierrez, Phillip Gutierrez, and Gabriel Gutierrez, all of Humboldt; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Antonia Diaz, Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Felipe, one brother, Pedro Ramirez, four sisters, Angelita “Grace” Gutierrez, Soledad Suarez, Grace Marie Godinez and Elvira Rea.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Humboldt.¬†Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Rosary will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church.

She will lie in state on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the rosary at the Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.

Memorials in her name may be made to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and may be left with the funeral home.
