Chester R. Palmer, 89, Tulsa, Okla., died Monday, December 1, 2008, in Tulsa.
He was born May 10, 1919, in Iola to David and Martha Ketchum Palmer and graduated from Chanute High School.
He received his degree as a health inspector from Vanderbilt College in Nashville, Tenn., and moved to the Tulsa area in the early 1950s. He lived in Turley much of his life.
He retired from his job as a building engineer for the Tulsa World, then worked several more years at different jobs.
In his later years he moved back to Tulsa and was a member of Belview Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Don Palmer, Owasso, Okla.; three daughters, Judy Cornelius, Glenpool, Okla., Carol Gilleland, Tulsa, Okla., and Melody Boling, Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Palmer; and a son, Larry Palmer.
Funeral will be Thursday at the Belview Baptist Church in Tulsa, Okla., with the Rev. Tom Branch officiating. Burial is in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, Okla., under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
