Sylvia D. Myers, 98, Chanute, died Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Heritage Health Care Center, Chanute.
She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Chanute to Frank and Lydia Wilmont-Johnson Nelson. After graduating from high school in Stark, she graduated from Omaha Beauty School and practiced in Independence and Chanute until her marriage.
She married Kenneth F. Myers, Chanute, on Oct. 1, 1934. He died on April 13, 1991.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Toby Myers, Thayer; three granddaughters, Julie Maxeiner and husband, Max, Illinois, Darrin Carrico and husband, Ed, Thayer, and Darcie Cruz and husband, Luz, Thayer; two grandsons, Kent Myers and wife, Marcia, Edgerton, and Dirk Myers and wife, Jessica, Erie; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon, and three sisters.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Thayer Fire Department Auxiliary for the purchase of required reflective vests for fire personnel and may be left with the funeral home.
