Dorles Marie Miller Cannady, 80, Yates Center, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Windsor Place in Iola where she had been recuperating from hip surgery.

She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in St. Paul, Minn., to Edward K. and Bertha Bilka Miller. She attended school in Minnesota.

On Jan. 9, 1952, she married Daniel Webster “Barney” Cannady in Mason City, Iowa. He died on May 6, 1995.

The Canadys moved to Yates Center after their marriage.

In addition to being a mother, Mrs. Cannady worked at the Yates Center nursing home for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Yates Center, and enjoyed bargain hunting at garage sales, playing bingo and slots.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel “Woody” and Sherry Cannady, Iola; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Danelle Stokes, Joplin, Mo., Deanna and George Narcih, Iola, Denise and Earl Hughes, Pocatello, Idaho, and Elaine Depew, Chanute; and 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Cannady, on April 19, 2008; a granddaughter, Karen Kinyon; and four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Yates Center Cemetery. The family will proceed to First Baptist Church in Yates Center for a family memorial service at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
