He graduated from Stark High School in 1952.
He was united in marriage to Frances A. McGinty on April 2, 1961, in Chanute.
Richard was an accomplished meat market manager, having worked for Self Service Bauer’s Market, Rooster’s Thriftway, and Ron’s IGA in Parsons. Most importantly, he loved life.
He and Fran were avid water skiers. He enjoyed flying his powered parachute, riding his motorcycle, renovating his Model T, harmonizing to his favorite songs, and growing watermelons and corn. Most of all, he enjoyed his family. His wife and kids were the focal points of his life, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. His kids thought of him as their hero, and to others he was known as the “Fun Dad.”
He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Fran Webb, of the home; a daughter, Melinda Taylor and her husband, Brian, of Chanute; son, Dan Webb and wife, Kristine, of Redwood City, Calif.; son, David Webb and fiancée Tina Parman of Parsons; stepdaughter, Sandi McCormack of Omaha, Neb.; grandson, Rob Carter and wife, Melissa, of Coffeyville; granddaughters, Clorinda and Sophia Webb; great-grandson Nate Carter; sisters Juanita Thomas, Delores Westfall and her husband, Don, Pauline Broyles and her husband, Dan, Marcia Worley and her husband, Matt, and Cheryl Reed and her husband, Vester; brothers Dale Webb and his wife, Jacque, and Kenny Webb and his wife, Joyce; sister-in-law Sherrolyn Webb; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Lee Webb, brother Leon Webb, and grandson Scott Carter.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today, March 19, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
