Layne Marc Offenbacker, 55, of Chanute, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his home.

Layne was born March 12, 1957 in Chanute, the son of Edward Frank and Thelma Whelmina Eagle Offenbacker.

He was united in marriage to Elsie Rollings. She survives, of the home.

Layne was a self-employed welder.

Along with his wife, Elsie, he is survived by his mother, Thelma Offenbacker of Chanute; three daughters, Angela Marie Offenbacker, Allison Michell Hollenbeck, and Polly Lynn Offenbacker, all of Chanute; three sons, Layne Mark Offenbacker II, Walt Lee Offenbacker and Kim James Offenbacker, all of Independence; three grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Sue Matlock of Buffalo; and a niece and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at the First Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.
