Beulah “Maude” Cook, 89, a longtime resident of Fredonia, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Heritage Health Care in Chanute. She was born Oct. 31, 1923 in Fredonia, daughter of Robert C. and Beulah J. West Cummings. She was raised in Wilson County, attended schools in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1941. Following graduation, she worked for Hollis Hardware and Dr. Duncan.
In April 1943, she married Harlin Cook and moved to Roper. He preceded her in death in 2010. Maude was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia.
She was also preceded in death by a son, a son, J.R. Cook.
Maude’s survivors include a son, Jerry Cook of Emporia; a daughter, Dane Rhodes of Welch, Oklahoma; six granddaugters; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Timmons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home 1-5 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.
