Lela Pugh, 87, of Chanute, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Lela was born in Thayer on Sept. 15, 1925 the daughter of Ira and Grace Cook Hague. She graduated from Thayer High School. In 1944 she married Cecil Steeves and he preceded her in death in 1955. She later married Clayton Pugh in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute and did many volunteer jobs with the church. Lela loved being a grandmother and always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Lela is survived by her three children, Mark Steeves and wife, Peggy, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Philip Steeves of Chanute, and Pam Chase and husband, Glen, of Chanute; seven grandchildren, Jason Solomon of Quenemo, Monica Finley of Chanute, Ryan Steeves of Tulsa, Okla., Kevin Steeves of Chanute, Tracey Steeves of Mc-
Cune, Jamie Thompson of Humboldt, and Jessica McMahan of Chanute; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorcas Rhodes of Myersville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, Kelly and J.C. Hague, and one sister, Rachel Ray.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Grace Episcopal Church in Chanute.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church or Cherry Street Youth Center and may be left Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in charge of arrangements.
