Jeff was born in Garnett on May 3, 1961, the son of Roland and Paula Koehler Scobee. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1979. Jeff graduated from Drury College where he received a degree as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
He married Marianne Hughes on Dec. 6, 1980 in Columbus.
He was employed by Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center as the Director of Respiratory Care, Sleep Lab, Durable Medical Equipment, and Head of Security.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He also loved scuba diving, traveling and spending time with his family. Jeff was a valuable board member of the FireEscape Coffee House Youth Ministries and was instrumental in the renovations of the current building and donated much of his time as a volunteer. He was also a member of The First Baptist Church and loved the Lord.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Roland and Paula Scobee; his wife, Marianne Scobee. of the home; two children, his daughter Heather Raetz and husband, Bobby, of White City, Ore., and his son Jason Scobee and wife, Jesi; and two grandchildren, Wyllie and Haylee of Montezuma, Iowa; five siblings, sisters Gwen Mayes and husband, Wayne, of Saline, Mich.; Shanna Wacker of Garnett; brothers Paul Scobee, also of Garnett, Mike Scobee and wife, Rachel, of Hasty, Colo., John Scobee and wife, Andrea, of Overland Park; and many nieces of nephews and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at the FireEscape Coffeehouse in Chanute and will be open to the public.
The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Kansas Respiratory Care Society for the Jeff Scobee Leadership Fund or The FireEscape Coffee House and may be left with the funeral home or at the memorial service.
