Ruby R. Rogers, 73, of Cherryvale lost her battle with cancer at her home on Jan. 23, 2013.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Cherryvale. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, under the direction of the Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale.

Visitation hours will be noon until 8 p.m. today with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family has suggested memorials to the New Hope Christian Church of Cherryvale and contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Ruby was born Feb, 23, 1939 in Galesburg, the daughter of Lee and Opal Hizey Ward. She grew up in Galesburg where she attended Galesburg High School, graduating in 1957.

On Oct. 11, 1962 in Miami, Okla., Ruby was united in marriage to James F. Rogers. He survives, of the home. The couple spent their entire married in Cherryvale.

Ruby’s latest job included working for Dr. Phillip Eastep in Cherryvale from 1978 until her retirement in 2000.

Ruby was a member of New Hope Christian Church.

Ruby is also survived by her daughter Jammy Froebe of Neodesha, daughter Rhonda Rohr of Altoona, son Mike Rogers of Tulsa, Okla., daughter Jennifer Culbertson of Lawrence; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sisters Nelva Drummond of Chanute and Beulah Barker of Thayer.
