Donald Eugene Swartz, 77, Buckner, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at his home. He was born Sept. 1, 1935 in Fort Scott, the son of Walter Lawrence and Ruby Gladys Prettyman Swartz.

After high school he was enlisted in the United States Marines. On Oct. 14, 1963 in Kingsville, Mo., he married Sharon Gale Tanner. She survives, of the home.

He worked as a sheet metal worker for Allis Chalmers for 31 years.

Survivors also include five children, Travis Swartz, Buckner, Mo., Donna Harrison, Blue Springs, Mo., Donald Swartz, Jr., Lee’s Summit, Mo., Debra Pickering, Wellington, Mo., Eric Swartz, Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Bob Swartz, Standsberry, Mo., Rick Ferguson, Merriam; four sisters, Mae Oxford, Wichita, Bonnie Paste, Augusta, Connie Vance, Chanute, Cindy Ostrosky, Bartlesville, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Billy Don Swartz.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Dec. 21 at Countryside Funeral Home, Fredonia. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Coyville Cemetery.
