Larry Roberts, 52, of Chanute, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Larry was born in Chanute on March 28, 1960, the son of George and Mary Sapp Roberts. He graduated from Chanute High School and Neosho County Community College.

He was united in marriage to Michelle Kay Carpenter on August 9, 1980. She survives, of the home.

Larry worked for the Chanute Police Department for more than 20 years, serving as a Patrol Officer and School Resource Officer. He especially enjoyed his work with children and the school system during his time as a School Resource Officer. Prior to working for the City, he worked at Churchill, Inc.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the American Legion Riders. He attended both the First Baptist Church and the United Methodist Church.

Larry enjoyed riding Harleys, stock cars and muscle cars, and loved singing and entertaining people.

Along with his wife, Michelle, he is survived by a son, Andy Roberts of Chanute; a daughter Caitlin Roberts of Pittsburg; and two sisters, Elaine Kauffman and her husband, Bob, of Chanute and Judy Stephenson of Augusta.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Crumbliss.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at the First Baptist Good News Center in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Penwell Gabel Johnson Chapel.

Memorials in his name may be made to USD 413 Needy Nurses Fund and may be left with the funeral home.
