Jerry M. Greer, age 76, of rural Thayer, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha.

Celebration of Life graveside serviceswill be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Neodesha City Cemetery with Osie Bearden officiating under the direction of Loran Fawcett Chapel of Neodesha. Military Rites will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Loran Fawcett Funeral Home in Neodesha. Friends can also leave condolences on-line at www.loranfawcettfuneralhome.com

The family has suggested memorials to the Wounded Warrior Fund and remembrances may be left at Loran Fawcett Funeral Home or mailed to 704 Indiana, Neodesha, KS 66757.

Jerry was born May 6, 1936 in Biggs, Calif., to John Joseph and Clella Teal Greer. He was raised in California until he moved to Neodesha when he was in high school. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1955. He entered the United States Air Force in 1955, serving two tours in Vietnam. He retired honorably as a Master Sergeant in 1976. He went to work at Amoco in Texas City, Texas until he retired from there. He then returned to the Chanute and Thayer area with his wife.

He married Twyla Douglas in 1956. She preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Patricia Ann Ivy on Sept. 6, 1997 in Miami, Okla.

He loved to go fishing and hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Greer of the home in rural Thayer; three daughters, Jerri Elaine Moser and husband, George, of Texas City, Texas; Leann Wasson and husband, Clin,t of Fredonia, and Becky Voorhies of Humboldt; one son, Matt Bischoff and wife, Arlene, of Monroe, North California; one brother, Jackie Greer and wife, Diane, of Gilroy, Calif.; grandchildren Ryan Moser, Virginia Williamson, both of Texas City, Texas, Britney Bryan of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Kelsey Martin of Neodesha, Ashley and Alex Murrow and Griffin Voorhies, all of Humboldt; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clella Greer, one sister, Pauline Brown and his first wife, Twyla.
