Gary F. LeRoy, 64, of Chanute, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Gary was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Chanute, the son of Raymond and Myles Stranghorner Leroy. A lifelong area resident, he graduated Chanute High School, and attended Neosho County Community College.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Smoot April 27, 1981, in Miami, Okla. Gary was a truck driver for Santa Fe Railroad, until his retirement in 1994.

Gary served his country as a member of the Kansas National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many a productive hunting and fishing trip.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; his daughters, Shelly Wilson, Chanute, Suzy Cassingham, Chanute, Shawna Zurn and husband, Chris, Adrian, Mo; his son, Travis Leroy, Chanute; a brother, Bob Leroy, Chanute; a brother in law, Bob Washburn, Chanute; and a sister-in-law, Glenda LeRoy, Chanute; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bill Leroy, and a sister, Vesta Leroy Washburn.

Services will be Friday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Chanute.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and may be left with the funeral home.
