Carroll L. Johnson, 84, of South Charleston, Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Chanute on Nov. 19, 1927, the son of the late Vivian Edward Phillip and Mabel Marie Rundblad Johnson. Carroll graduated from Humboldt High School in 1947. He moved to Ohio in 1956 to work on the pipe line.

On March 19, 1958 he married Betty Lou Fife in South Charleston, Ohio. He retired in 1989 from international Harvester. He owned and operated the South Charleston Greenhouse and Fife Market. Carroll also was a member of the First Assembly of God for 25 years where he was a past Sunday School Superintendent, trustee and deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty; son, James Johnson; daughters, Donna Wertz and husband, Mark, Debbie Swinson and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Stephen and wife, Anne, Jennifer and husband, Troy, and Joseph; sister-in-law, Blendina Johnson; and three nieces, Connie Sue, Pam and Nancy. He is preceded in death by brother, Conrad Johnson, and sisters, Vada Johnson and Verdine Lawrence Greve.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the First Assembly of God, Springfield, Ohio, with services beginning at 7 p.m. Private burial will be held on Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery.
