Donald L. Fairchild, 81, Kansas City, Kan., died Sept. 11, 2012.

He was born Jan. 15, 1931 in Pleasant Valley Township to Fred and Georgia Erwin Fairchild. He grew up and graduated from Chanute High School and then moved to the Kansas City area.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in storage and a truck driver, retiring after 42 years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Kathleen, of the home; a brother Orlie Fairchild, Yuma, Ariz.; and in-laws Tom and Marge McLaren, Chanute.

He was preceded in death by a son Eric Fairchild.

Graveside service was Sept. 17 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
