Royce Percy Lockhart, 92, Altoona, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Heritage Health Care in Chanute. He was born April 20, 1920 in Waynoka, Okla., the son of Eber James and Beryl West Lockhart. Royce was a graduate of Waynoka High School. He was a farmer and a carpenter.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altoona and attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Chanute.

Royce served in World War II in the United States Army as a Corporal in field artillery.

On May 21, 1952 in Wichita, he married Esther Loretta Todd. She preceded him in death August 14, 1998.

Royce’s survivors include three sons, Howard Lockhart of Buffalo, John Lockhart of Fredonia, David Lockhart of Buffalo; a daughter, Sue Ann Costin of Altoona; a brother, H.G. “Bud” Lockhart of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Doris Lockhart of Amarillo, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert in 1997; one granddaughter, Kim Lockhart Anderson in 1995; one great-grandson, Austin Spencer in 1993.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call on Tuesday, 2-7 p.m. with the family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
