William Eric Claus, 60, of Chanute, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at his home surrounded, as always, by loving family and friends.

Eric was born in Chanute on April 22, 1952, the only child of Floyd E. and Lois Haynes Claus. He graduated from Chanute Senior High School in 1971.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

Eric was an all-around hard worker, and performed many jobs in the area. His passion though, was restoring automobiles and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Randy Claus of Chanute; daughter, Angela Claus of Chanute; four grandchildren, Abby Claus, Savannah Rogers and Bryce Rogers, all of Chanute, and Austin Rehmert of Iola; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

It was Eric’s wish to be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service with graveside inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, in the near future.

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
