Howard Donald Woodworth, 91, Baker, W.V., died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Royal Haven Assisted Living, Front Royal, Va. He was born Sept. 5, 1920 in Walnut, the son of Ross and Chettie Marshall Woodworth.

He graduated from Grant High School in Stark in 1938 and received a Bachelor’s in Commerce from Pittsburg State University. On June 28, 1941 he married Nell Elizabeth Haddan in Humboldt.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Dec. 7, 1942 and was discharged in 1946.

He received his Master’s in commerce, education and administration from PSU in 1949. He was teacher and principal at Stark Grade School from 1949-50 and 1950-52.

From 1953-1965 he was principal at Grant High School which later became Joint Rural High School. He retired as principal at East Harding High, Baker, W.V., in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie, his roommate at Royal Haven; a son James Howard Woodworth, Stark; a daughter Tami Rosann Bean, Christianburg, Va.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated by Fraley Funeral Home, Moorfield, W.V.
