Tina Marie Dixon, 42, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, near Iola.

Tina was born in Chanute Jan. 2, 1970, the daughter of Leon and Brenda Dorsey Dixon. She attended Chanute High School, later earned her GED, and attended Pittsburg State University.

She married Russell Higgins in Iola in 1987. They later divorced.

Tina worked as a waitress, and later served as manager of the bakery department at Walmart, Parsons, and manager of Taylor Convenience Store, Parsons.

In addition to her parents, Leon Dixon, Pittsburg, and Brenda Hagans, Lumberton, N.C., Tina is survived by her fianc√©, Billy Hegwald, Chanute; two daughters, Tori Higgins and Lauren Hollenbeck, Parsons; five sons, Russell Higgins, Jr., and wife, Staci, Parsons, Michael Hegwald, Parsons, Andrew Hegwald and wife, Sara, Chanute, Christopher Hegwald, Parkville, Mo., and Seth Hollenbeck, Parsons; four brothers, Ed Dixon and wife, Amanda, Parsons, Kenny Brooks, Erie, Brian Dorsey, Lumberton, N.C., and Allen Brooks, Wichita; four sisters, Peggy Jo Morarity and husband, Jason, Blue Springs, Mo., Lorie Evers and husband, Dwayne, Clearwater, Angela and Annette Hagans, Lumberton, N.C.; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of others, proud to call her “mom.”

She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Bonnie Dixon.

It was Tina’s wish to be cremated. Services will be announced by the family, at a future time.
