She loved working with her hands, making crafts and flower arrangements and enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, fishing and camping. Elsie was never afraid of hard work; during the war, she took a job drying eggs in a factory to support the troops. She also worked at the Burlington Overall Factory and Kustom Electronics in Chanute.
Her greatest joy was caring for her husband and raising her three daughters. Spending time with her family, including the extended relatives, made her happier than anything else in life.
She was a member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene, Rogers, Arkansas
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Earl Dillow; four brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one stepgreat grandchild.
She is survived by husband, Byron Ray Broadbooks, Bentonville, Ark.; three daughters, Florence Alford and husband, Delton, Fairview, Mo., Phyllis Felkins, Gravette, Ark., Bonnie Ridley and husband, Charles, Rogers, Ark.; three sisters, Bernice Shields, Chanute, Norma Lee Craft, Chanute, K, Sue Gilliland and husband, Richard, Pea Ridge, Ark.; three stepchildren, David Broadbooks and wife, Gloria, of Rogers, Ark.; Janna Worden and husband, Bill, Utica, N.Y.; Susan Eardley, Rogers, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
