Rosie Koester, 87, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.
Rosie was born Jan. 21, 1925 in Tipton, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Simeon Thummel. She was united in marriage on July 27, 1943 in Piqua to George Koester, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2003.
She was a homemaker. She loved her family and in her own words, “They made my life worth living.” She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute.
Rosie is survived by her three children, Gene Koester and wife, Sheryl, Chanute, Ron Koester and wife, Rita, Chanute, and Doris Boyd and husband, Phil Pugh, Claremore, Okla; 10 grandchildren, Greg Pugh, Shannon Rader, Bill Koester, Shawn Koester, Clinton Koester, Maggie Koester, Mindy Brooks, Matt Koester, Ann Bash, and Stacy Galt; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Leo Thummel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Shirley Ann Pugh, four brothers, Joe, George, Vincent, and Charles Thummel, and five sisters, Bertha Henning, Mary Wentz, Ann Greiner, and Veronica and Clara Thummel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. this evening at the church.
Memorials in her name may be made to St. Patrick School and may be left with the funeral home.
