Harold Gene Lazzers, 69, rural Toronto, and a longtime resident of the Eureka area, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born Jan. 29, 1943 in Eureka, the son of Harold Eugene and Ruby Virginia Purkeypile Lazzers. Harold was a graduate of Eureka High School. He began his sales career at Miller Brothers, later, Burk-Paulsen Clothiers in Eureka and a Prudential Insurance salesman. In later years, he was a salesman for Wild Bill’s Beef Jerky, and most recently he owned and operated Laz-Shax Storage near Toronto State Lake.

On July 19, 1960, Harold married Myrt VanBuskirk. They were later divorced. Harold was united in marriage to Barbara Mead on August 30, 1974. They later divorced. On Dec. 25, 1984, Harold met Linda Simons and they began their 27-year companionship. Linda resides at their home near Toronto.

Also surviving are two sons, Aaron Lazzers, Haysville, Matt Lazzers, Fall River; three daughters, Gena Schaefer, Emporia, Erica O’Brien, Lacombe, La., Leslye Bullock, El Dorado; one brother, Bob Lazzers, Severy; two sisters, Betty Griggs, Dodge City, Sandy Parker, Spring Hill, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was 1 p.m. Monday, June 4 at the Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
