Marilyn S. Colegrove, 74, Walnut, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul following a courageous one-year battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 18, 1937, at Stark, to Leonard and Sue Smith Jacquinot. She grew up and attended Walnut t. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated in 1955.
On August 22, 1959, she and Merlin K. Colegrove were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut. After marriage, they moved to Girard for one year then returned to Walnut where they have lived since. Through the years she had worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company, both in Parsons; and later owned and operated Boots and Saddles in Walnut.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut.
Survivors include her husband, Merlin Colegrove, of the home; one daughter, Marla Kichler, Walnut; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two brothers, Bernard Jacquinot, Overland Park, Ken Jacquinot, Parsons.
Following cremation, a memorial funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut. Burial of ashes will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Walnut. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., Monday at the church, where the family will receive friends immediately following.
