Dale Boyd Turner, 81, Fredonia, died Monday, January 26, 2009, at Golden Living Center.
He was born June 7, 1927, in Chetopa, to James and Grace Whitner Turner.
On May 1, 1947, he married Joyce Knoles. She died July 11, 1991. He married Carol Krie in Fredonia on June 27, 1992. She survives.
He was an employee, manager and later joint owner of Cox Grain in Fredonia. He retired in 1992 after working there for 44 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy from June 1944 to June 1946.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
Other survivors include a daughter, June Glasgow, Hillsboro; two sons, Curtis Turner, Centennial, Colo., and Richard Turner, Longmont, Colo.; six stepchildren, KimGillen, St. Roberts, Mo., Valrie Jordan, Robin Price and Shawn LaRocque, all of Fredonia, Billy Gillen, Winchester, Ky., and Michael Gillen, South Carolina; a brother, Duane Turner, Greenville, Ohio; three sisters, Doris Coffey, Clinton, Mo., Treva Ballard, Denair, Calif., and Shirley Dale, Clackamas, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Fredonia. Burial will be at Fredonia City Cemetery under the direction of Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
