Sharman Mullen Blasing, 60, Topeka, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Midland Hospice House after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on Dec. 5, 1951 in Russell, the daughter of W. Gale and Raeme Lee Wamsley Mullen.

Sharman graduated from Erie High School and Kansas State University, cum laude, with a degree in clothing and retailing. After graduation, she worked for the Jones Store in Kansas City, Missouri and later for Marling’s Home Furnishings in Topeka and Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City, Mo. Sharman’s passion was antiquing and while living in Lexington, Mo., she owned an antique store, Bit of Whimsy. She also maintained booths at antique malls in Kansas City and Topeka.

In 1975, she married H. Dieter Trost, they had two daughters. They later divorced. In 2005 she married Steven A. Blasing in Topeka. He survives.

She is also survived by her two daughters, Alexa Cobb and husband, Bryon, Lathrop, Mo., and Lyndee Trost, Kansas City, Mo.; stepchildren, Jeremy Blasing and wife, Cara, Topeka, Kari and husband, Matt, Blasing-Hicks, Portland, Ore., and Melissa Blasing, Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Brock and Peyton Cobb of Lathrop, Mp.; Jade Christian, Kansas City, Mo., and Alexander and Nicholas Blasing of Topeka; her parents, W. Gale and Raemee Lee, Erie; three siblings, Debra Clayton and husband, Randy, Topeka; Bruce Mullen, Erie, and Joretta Stowe and husband, Larry, Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ray and Alice Wamsley and John and Margaret Mullen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13 at Town and Country Christian Church, 4925 SW 29th ST., Topeka.
