Louis H. Walker Jr., 86, Thayer, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.

Junior was born on April 23, 1925 in Buffalo, the son of Louis and Lola Shoaf Walker. He attended schools in Wilson County.

He was united in marriage to Jean E. “Betty” Russell on August 25, 1944 in Erie,.

Junior drove a school bus for 26 years for Thayer Schools. He enjoyed his cattle, horses, and farming.

Along with his wife, Betty, he is survived by his son, Rodney Walker and his wife, Terri, Thayer; his daughter, LaVeta Fickel and her husband, Roger. Bartlesville, Okla.; one grandson, Tim Morris and wife, Amy, Thayer; and two great-grandchildren, Natalee and Bradlee Morris, Thayer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Burial services will take place at Thayer Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials in his name may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Coffeyville and may be left with the funeral home.
