David L. Lindblad, 65, Leavenworth, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

David was born Oct. 9, 1946, in Chanute, the son of George A. and Helen Marie Walters Lindblad. His family later moved to Piper and he graduated from Piper High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968.

After discharge from the military, David married his high-school sweetheart, Joyce Masterson. He owned and operated a sub-contracting company in housing construction until his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2007. David was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Paul and Tommy.

David is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; his brothers, Ed and Jeff LIndblad; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, 4701 10th Ave. Leavenworth. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 13849 Hollingsworth Road, Kansas City, Kan. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery.
