Marjorie Laude Peck of Yates Center, Kansas went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2012. She was 93. Marjorie was born Dec. 27, 1918 in rural Rose, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert and Leola Ladd Laude.

As a child Marjorie went to Maple Grove Church and attended elementary school at South Maple Grove. Marjorie graduated from Humboldt High School in 1937 and then attended Emporia State Teacher’s College, earning a Teaching Certificate. She taught school at Otter Springs, North Maple Grove and Rose School, all which are located in Woodson County, Kansas. Marjorie met Clayton Peck and they were married on Dec. 25, 1941 in the Salem United Brethren Church Parsonage in Iola, Kansas. They were happily married for 66 years. Marjorie spent most her life in Woodson County and worked along with her husband Clayton on their farm. She and Clayton also worked several winters with the Roving Volunteers In Christ’s Service Group. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Yates Center Kansas, Star Valley E.H.U., The Kalida Club, Woodson County Area Retired Teachers Association, as well as a lifetime member of the Woodson County Historical Society.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clayton on April 22, 2008, and three sisters; Velora Barnes, Lucille Becannon and Elaine Hardin. She is survived by her children: son, Kenneth Peck and special friend Naomi Goodlett of Smithville, Texas; Helen Stoll and husband Paul of Yates Center, Kansas and Marilyn Carroll and husband Dennis of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two sisters: Ruth Bennett and Rose Marie Chambers, both of Tomball, Texas; eight grandchildren, Lori Smith, Brad Peck, Amy Jensen, Quentin, J.D. and Brett Stoll, Vicki Hubbard and Sheila Carroll, also by 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marjorie was known by all as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, friend, gardener, and homemaker. She always provided warmth and a loving home for her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.

Services for Marjorie are planned for Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Yates Center, Kansas, with burial following at Yates Center Cemetery, also Yates Center. The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. on the evening prior, Tuesday, March 27, at Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, Kansas.
