The Rev. Louis Francis Davis, 83, Yates Center, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Yates Center Health Care Center.

He was born June 30, 1925, in Virgil to Louis O. and Ina Ruth Hays Davis. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1939.

He served in the Navy during World War II and Vietnam and retired from the military as master chief after 20 years.

He served at churches in Crown Point, N.M., Gallup, N.M., Duluth, Minn., Toronto, and Yates Center.

He married Maxine Patterson on Feb. 23, 1946, in Wichita. She died Aug. 29, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Gary Davis, and a daughter, Karen Franz, both of Yates Center. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Lynn Davis.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New York Valley Church in Yates Center. Interment will follow at Yates Center Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
