William A. “Billy” Cook, 75, Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia, died Monday, January 12, 2009, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Falls City, Neb., to J. Obert and Vaughnita Lettie “Cookie” McDonald Cook. He graduated from Emporia High School.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Emporia.

He is survived by a sister, Junita Sterbach, Overland Park, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Chanute’s Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home of Emporia.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Cook and Sterbach families. I remember seeing Billy walk up and down the streets of Emporia while I was growing up. He always had a big smile on his face and seemed to be very happy.
