Earl Raymond Clemans Jr., 89, Colony, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Allen County Hospital, Iola.
He was born June 12, 1919, in Erie to Earl Sr. and Leona Mathis Clemans. He graduated from Erie High School in 1937 and from Pittsburg Teacher’s College in 1942.
He married Mary Best on May 17, 1942, in McCune. She survives.
He taught sciences, history, shop, driver’s education and coached basketball at Colony High School for 39 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Colony Community Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Dwight Clemans, Wascom, Texas, Marvin Clemans, Wichita, and Arvin Clemans, Iola; a daughter, Bonnie Sjogren, Concordia; a brother, Julius Clemans, Johnson City, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Colony Community Church. Interment will be in Colony Cemetery under the direction of Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola.
