Deane worked in his early years for Cessna Aircraft and Boeing Aircraft until he answered the call into the ministry of the Gospel in 1957. During his ministry, the Rev. Endicott served as pastor for 12 churches as well as serving as interim pastor for nine other churches, all in Kansas, including Grant Avenue Baptist in Chanute. His last pastorate was serving as the senior adult pastor at First Baptist Church, Fort Scott. He was a mentor to many throughout his ministry. He possessed a special gift for the visitation of the homebound and hospitalized. His passion for souls drove his wish for everyone to know Jesus and experience salvation. His last days were given to ministering to the doctors and nurses overseeing his care. Deane enjoyed woodworking as well as boating, fishing, and camping. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the home; one son, Garry Ray Endicott and wife, Kathy, Springville, Ala.; one daughter, Rita Kay Tiegreen and husband, John, Fort Scott; two sisters-in-law, Alice Endicott, Smithville, Mo., and Jackie Endicott, Emporia; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Don, Philip, and Walter Endicott, and an infant sister Lois Endicott.
The Rev. Thad Endicott, the Rev. Marty DeWitt, and the Rev. Tim Davish will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19 at the First Baptist Church, Fort Scott. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery with Matt Bookout officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
