Evelyn “Fern” Harrington, 83, Humboldt, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

Fern was born in Humboldt on August 27, 1927, the daughter of Ed and Gretta Hicks Myer. She attended schools in Humboldt.

She was united in marriage to H.L. Griffith in June of 1944. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Harrington on August 12, 1972. He survives, of the home.

Fern worked as a production engineer for the Army Ammunition Plant.

Fern is survived by her husband, Charles Harrington, Humboldt; three children, Christina Tilman, Humboldt, David Randal Griffith, San Angelo, Texas, and Roxanna Evans, Tulsa, Okla.; four stepchildren, Tom Harrington, Wichita, Dave Harrington, Wann, Okla., Jim Harrington, South Coffeyville, Okla., and Connie Smith, Coffeyville; 11 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepdaughter, Diane Harrington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today, April 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Rosary was recited on Monday at 7 p.m. at the church.

Memorials in her name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and may be left with the funeral home.
