William Thomas “Tom” Brazil, 67, Chanute, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at his home.

Tom was born in Parsons on Jan. 26, 1944, the son of W.A. “Bill” and Grace

O’Bryan Brazil. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1962. He was a longtime resident of Chanute.

He was united in marriage to Doris Agee in 1963. They later divorced.

Tom served in the Kansas National Guard and was a longtime member of the V.F.W. and the Elks Club.

He was a well known member of the business community, being self-employed in restaurants, transportation, oil industry and agriculture.

Tom’s hobbies were antiques, traveling, skiing, poker and dancing. He enjoyed cooking and hosting family and friends.

Tom is survived by three children, Todd Brazil, Pittsburg, Kevin Brazil, Clinton, Mo., and Aimee Wilson of Pittsburg; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jeanie Bilgere, Garland, Texas, Fran Hawley, Livingston, Texas, Lorean Ruggles, Scottsdale, Ariz., Paul Brazil, LaHarpe, Mike Brazil, Parkville, Mo., and Janet Williams, Joplin, Mo.; 11 nieces and 11 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Cremation has taken place.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m..

Memorials in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.
