She was born Oct. 3, 1916 in Barton County, Kan., to Henry J. and Clara Frances Geil Schroeder.
She married Ralph E. "Pete" Carl July 6, 1943, at Albert, Kan. He died Oct. 15, 1975. She worked for Burlington Overall Factory in Chanute as a seamstress. She moved to Great Bend from Chanute in 1977 and then to Oak Lawn in 2005.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Silver and Gold Club, and RSVP, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Schroeder and wife, Karen, Oak Lawn; four grandchildren, Lynda Stencel and husband, Edward, Suzanne Schroeder, Timothy Schroeder and wife, Diane, Nanci Griffin and husband, Jason; three great-grandchildren, Brian Teal and wife, Erika, Veronica Schroeder, Mitchell Schroeder; a great-great-grandchild, Kailyn Teal.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Schroeder, and two sisters, Louise Bowyer and Helen Schroeder.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, the Rev. James A. Strasen officiating. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park, Chanute.
Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m.
