Mary Emily Jones, 90, Toronto, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at St. Francis in Wichita.
Mary was born Nov. 20, 1920 in Atlanta, Ga., the daughter of Fredrick P. and Ruby Hart Henderson. She grew up in Wilmington, N.C. and graduated from Wilmington High School. She earned her Bachelor’s in elementary education at the University of California Fullerton. She taught in Catholic Schools in southern California and in the Wilmington area.
She was united in marriage to Floyd Jones in Las Vegas, Nev. in July 1948. He preceded her in death in 1991. On June 12, 1997 she was united in marriage to Merlin Jones in Burgaw, N.V., moving to Toronto in 1999.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one son, Terry Jones, Saint Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren; one brother, Sunny Ray Henderson, Surf City, North Carolina; and four sisters; Ruby Leimone and Mildred Hughes, both of Burgaw, N.C., Bessie Clemmons, Hempstead, N.C., and Georgie Richards, Wilmington, N.C.
The body was cremated and private family services will be held later. Campbell Funeral Home, Yates Center, in charge of arrangements.
