Florence Alberta Chase, 95, Chanute, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
Florence was born in Humboldt on Feb. 9, 1915, the daughter of Earnest L. and Flora J. Adams Truster. She graduated from Humboldt High School.
She was united in marriage to John Dannelley on May 5, 1932 in Yates Center. They later divorced. She was united in marriage to Herschel Chase on Sept. 24, 1965 in Camdenton, Okla. He preceded her in death in September 1994.
She worked at the Ordinance and Ammunition Plants in California and Parsons and was a farmer’s wife for 45 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chanute, the Chanute Senior Citizens Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Beverly Ann Powell and her husband, James, Lawton, Okla.; a son, John Dannelley and his wife, Joyce, of Mississippi; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bessie Irene Clover, Humboldt, Martha Payne of Oregon, and Ella Carl, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herschel, and a brother, Earnest Truster, Jr.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 at the DeWitt Cemetery, rural Humboldt.
She will lie in state on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute.
Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of the donor’s Choice and may be left with the funeral home.
