Lois “Jeanne” Wilkins, 81, Iola, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at the Allen County Hospital in Iola.

Jeanne was born in Lyndon on Dec. 6, 1929, the daughter of Clark and Lillian Dreyer Strahl. She graduated from Burlington High School and attended Neosho County Community College.

She was united in marriage to Warren H. “Lee” Wilkins in June, 1951 at the Christian Church in Iola. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1995.

Jeanne was a Certified Public Accountant, who along with her husband Lee, owned and operated Wilkins & Wilkins Accounting Firm in Chanute until their retirement. They later opened the L.J. Wilkins Public Accountant office.

She is survived by three sons, James Anthony Wilkins, Gas, John Gritton Wilkins, Gas, and Walter Jerald Lacey, Jr., Chanute; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a brother, Richard “Dick” Strahl.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lee.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left with the funeral home.
