Mary Margaret “Peggy” Gentry McKinley, former Neodesha resident and resident of Chanute, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Peggy was born Dec. 27, 1940 in Neodesha, the daughter of Vance and Alberta Wilson Gentry. Peggy attended school in Neodesha and graduated in 1958. She was employed as a CNA for more than 40 years before retiring.

Peggy married Ray A. Hilts on June 28, 1957 in Neodesha, they later divorced. She married Herschel L. McKinley on Sept. 2, 1977 in Neodesha. He survives, of the home.

Also surviving are three daughters, Connie Fail, Chanute, Debra Hilts, Fort Scott, and Dana McKinley; three grandchildren; and an aunt, Dorothy Logan of Neodesha.

A memorial will be held 2:30 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 1. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Inurnment will immediately follow at Neodesha Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Castaways P.O. Box 313, Chanute, KS or to the Cherry Street Youth Center 710 N. Forest, Chanute, KS and remembrances may be left at the funeral home.
