John Starliper, 58, Savonburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute.

He was born Nov. 20, 1952 at Fort Scott, the son of Jackie and Mable Louise Cook Starliper. He attended schools in the Savonburg area before graduating from Elsmore Grade School. He then attended Moran High School. John married Nancy Masters on May 28, 1972 at Elsmore. This union was blessed with four children. John was a farmer and worked in local oil fields. He owned and operated his own well service business in the 1980s. He was working for A and A Well Service until his health no longer allowed in 2010. He loved hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. John particularly enjoyed going to Branson and Silver Dollar City.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Mable Louise Starliper and his father-in-law, Dean Masters.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; his son, Chad Starliper and wife, Sandra, Elsmore; three daughters, Wendy Froelich. Stark, Julie Hays and husband, Ryan, Walnut; Megan Starliper, Pittsburg, Kansas; six grandchildren, Whitney, Logan, Meranda, Chad Alan, Mackenzie, and Rylie; two sisters, Virginia Caler and husband, Norman, Pittsburg, and Janice Janssen and husband, David, Savonburg; and mother-in-law Betty Masters, Chanute; stepgrandmother Lupe Cook, Chanute.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Elsmore United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Savonburg. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home in Moran. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
