Mary Elizabeth Hoelting, 91, rural Olpe, died Sunday, Jan. 16 at her home.

Mary Elizabeth Birkenfeld was born July 5, 1919 in Nazareth, Texas, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Leinen Birkenfeld. She married Norbert Hoelting Oct. 17, 1939 in Nazareth. He survives, of the home.

Also surviving are sons, Floyd Hoelting and wife, JoEllen, Austin, Texas, Henry Hoelting and wife, Marsha, Olpe, Daryl Hoelting and wife, Kim, Salina, Galen Hoelting, Olpe, and Neal Hoelting and wife, Vicki, Wichita; daughters, Elsie Hoelting, Boulder, Colo., Leona Hoelting, Chicago, Ill., Viola Hoelting, Olpe, Joyce Ratcliff and husband, Dick, Salina, Donna Herron and husband, Gary, Chanute, and Mary Beth Bonitatibus and husband, Rusty, Olpe; a sister, Dora Pohlmeier, Amarillo, Texas; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, Thomas and Walter Birkenfeld, sisters Petronilla and Marcella Birkenfeld and Julie Brockman, and three grandchildren.

She moved to Lyon County in 1946 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will take place later at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.

Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
