Emma Klassen, 103, longtime resident of Fredonia, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Medora, the daughter of Abraham and Mary Doerksen Klassen.

Emma attended school in Inman, where she graduated high school. She later had additional training in business school. In the 1930s, she moved to Fredonia and worked for the N.J. Oneal Car Agency before becoming a cashier at the First National Bank in Fredonia.

She was a member if the Church of Bretheren.

Survivors include three nephews, Jack Oneal, Seattle, Wash., Jerry Oneal, Fredonia, and Gary Oneal,

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 at the Fredonia City Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Timmons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5-6. A memorial has been established in Emma’s name with Golden Living Center and may be sent to the funeral home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
