Wilma Violet Hess Duckworth, 93, Fredonia, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. She was born Nov. 10, 1917 in Fredonia, to Grace Fern Eflin and Erie Joe Hess.

Wilma graduated from Fredonia High School in 1935 and then graduated from Fredonia Business College in 1936.

Wilma married Charles Duckworth on August 2, 1939. They were co-owners of Duckworth Motor Company Oldsmobile & Chevrolet agency.

Wilma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fredonia.

Her husband preceded her in death and in 2006 she moved to Villa Ventura, a senior living facility in Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherryl Thorne, Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Jan, 14 at Villa Ventura 12100 Wornall K.C., Mo. Visitation at 3:30 p.m, service 4 p.m. and light snack 5 p.m.

On Saturday there will be a chapel service at Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia, at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made The First United Methodist Church for the restoration of stained glass windows and may be left with the church or funeral home, 510 N. 7th St., Fredonia, KS 66736.
