Herbert Kenneth Johnson, 88, Humboldt, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at his home.

Kenny was born in Humboldt, on March 24, 1922, the son of Roscoe H. and Adah Coppage Johnson. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1939, and Chanute Junior College in 1943.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sinclair on July 31, 1943 in Long Beach, Calif. She preceded him in death on June 30, 2010.

Kenny owned and operated the Texaco Service Station for 32 years. He was also a regular and substitute Postal Carrier for the Post Office.

He was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church; a charter member of the Lions Club; the Masons and Scottish Rite; Allen County Airport Board; Humboldt Housing Authority; and served as chief for the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department.

Kenny is survived by a daughter, Marlene Weilert and her husband, Dr. Stephen Weilert, Humboldt; two sons, Kenneth A. Johnson and his wife, Nancy, Bella Vista, Ark., and Jeffery Lynn Johnson and his wife, Sybil, Bailey, Colo.; grandchildren, Jan Roe, Scott Johnson, Jennifer Stoneking, Jeremy Weilert, Dr. Brent Weilert, Justin Sinclair Johnson and Heather Johnson; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Makenzie, Madalyn, Ethan, Avery, Ella, Molly, Nicholas, Max, Piper, Amis, Baxter and Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elizabeth.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Humboldt United Methodist Church or the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department and may be left with the funeral home.
