William Alfred “Al” Seybold, 91, Yates Center, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010.

Al was born Sept. 19, 1919 in western Nebraska the son of Noah Lewis and Stella Mae Jackson Seybold.

He lived most of his life in southeast Kansas, the last 60 years in the Yates Center area. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp (China, Burma, India Campaign) from Dec. 8, 1941 until the end of the war.

He was a railroader, designer of pond and terrace systems (Soil Conservation Service), builder and designer of boats (IMP).

He married Mary Jayne Dassow April 8, 1950; she preceded him in death May, 2005.

Survivors include a son, Bruce W. Seybold, Chanute; two granddaughters and five great-grandsons.

The body was cremated and the ashes will be spread in a private family service. The family will gather to greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at Campbell Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to be made to the Al Seybold Memorial Fund and sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783
